At Calvary MOPS, we welcome moms from ALL walks of life. Once you walk into the door, just know you can be yourself.
Calvary MOPS meets twice a month on the first and third Thursdays of the month. Meetings are held from 9 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. In addition to our regular twice-monthly meetings, MOPS hosts various activities such as playdates and mom’s night out. We send out event reminders by email and through our Facebook Page – Calvary MOPS Longmont.
A typical meeting schedule:
9:00 a.m. Moms arrive & check in children to MOPS Kids, breakfast & coffee
9:30 – 10:30 Creative activity and guest speaker
10:40 – 11:20 Small Group Discussion Time
11:20 Moms pick up children & depart
What to Expect
Please review our New Mom Registration information before attending your first meeting. When you arrive, you will be greeted by a member of our Leadership Team at the front check-in table. Each mom is assigned table for discussion groups and given a name tag. We meet in the Youth Room through the gymnasium. Each meeting begins with a brunch followed by crafts and/or guest speaker, mom recognition and discussion group time.
MOPS is all about kids. While you are enjoying the MOPS meetings, your kids are learning and growing while participating in our MOPS Kids program. We all need a little break every now and then.
As a courtesy to our speakers and others in the room, please refrain from talking during the speaker’s presentations. If your infant child is with you and crying, please take him or her to another room. Also, please remember to silence all cell phones and refrain from texting and other activities.
Refreshments are part of each meeting. Each discussion group will be asked to take turns in providing snacks throughout the year. A sign-up sheet will be passed around the meeting before. Anything goes – from fruits and vegetables to cookies and egg dishes. Whatever you choose to bring, please bring 2 dozen servings including serving utensils. The discussion group that brings snacks will end early to clean up for the day.
Discussion Groups and Confidentiality
While we are a group of moms, you will find each table has a smaller circle of moms to share life with called Discussion Groups. Discussion Groups are an integral part of MOPS. This is a time for us to connect and foster deeper relationships. Each mom is assigned a table color. Each group is led by a Discussion Group Leader (DGL) who leads the discussion and prayer requests and coordinates meet-ups outside of regular MOPS meetings. Our goal is for everyone to feel comfortable and able to be their authentic self with their discussion group. If at any time you would like to switch to a different table for any reason, please speak with your DGL or a leadership team member.
MOPS meetings and discussion groups are places for mothers to share and confide in one another. Be respectful of these confidences and keep them as such. As a guideline, never share a group member’s situation or prayer request unless you have been given specific permission from the person to do so. For purposes of supervision and accountability, DGLs may share information with the Co-Coordinators and Mentor Moms. Also, please keep in mind that MOPS is a place to bring mothers together, but it is not appropriate for soliciting, mass marketing e-mails and business-related networking.
